Smash Palace Gizzy - Sit Down in front review

Post by kwhelan »

Was in Gisborne for couple of nights and went to the legendary Smash Palace where they had let this young band have a 2 hour slot for their friends and family, probably all under 16 at a guess they did nearly 2 hr Green Day set that just blew me away, this phone video doesn't do it justice
Mad skills and confidence to tackle this and the adult public were stunned.
The closing numbers and encores of all the early dookie stuff were fantastic,
singer played and sung with almost perfect mimicry of Bille Joe,
Bassist stepped up for all the important solos and songs like longview
Drummer never missed a beat even in those 7 min multi part song changes Gday are so fond of like jesus of suburbia
Guitarist simply amazing, half the show he did the all the guitar playing and swopping from rhythm to lead note for note original with some complex arrangements was inspiring, incredible unflustered control of timing and effects management
watch out for these guys, the world is there oyster
