How is metal dying? There's more metal bands now than ever before covering a much wider array of styles. I'm spoilt for choice these days, there's so much good music coming out of everywhere, you just need to go find it.
Anyway, I hear halford is awesome live.

Agreed, so many epic bands, but if you want another priest or sabbath tho' then you're outta luck!NippleWrestler wrote:How is metal dying? And good. Things need to move forward and that music is always going to be available anyway, new music just adds to the pile of stuff to listen to so its a total win/win.

I'd agree there probably won't be another Priest, Ozzy (or Maiden, or AC/DC or Metallica even), but the scene is far from dying, it's just changing.
Now you have so much choice, there is so much diversity, so many bands that are really, really good, but it's all gone a bit underground again. Every time I go try and find out what is happening in the metal scene these days, discover some new bands, I find so much incredible music, but you definitely have to go looking for it.
Not going to this one, I've seen Ozzy a few times and he puts on a good show but it has to be a special band to get me into a big venue concert these days.

The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Only if you’re Ryan Adams (who’d rather be playing metal, I think...)Molly wrote:Alt-country is the new metal.Olderama wrote:They’ve all had it

I think Rob Halford will be able to deliver the goods (pun intended)
Ozzy can be hit or miss. I have seen clips where his voice is not happening and other ones where it does. Roll of the dice as to whether he will be good on the night.
I also find age causing somebody to struggle a hard to watch at times. Like Jimmy Page in that reunion gig. I prefer to remember him in his prime at Madison Square Gardens. But if Ozzy can get the place rocking with his showmanship, it might still be a good gig.
The last big gig I went to was Iron Maiden. I got cheap seats because i paid for my nephew to go with me because he likes guitar. Could hardly hear the band. Was such a bummer, but at least I finally got around to seeing them. I missed so many good gigs always being away at sea for months on end.

I couldn't give Sharon a cent and sleep well at night.
would love to see Rob in all his glory.
oh well.

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

taking the 10 year old to see Ozzy and Priest in CHCH, really looking forward to it, last time I saw Ozzy solo was the Speak Of The Devil tour with Brad Gillis on guitar. The youngster is doing well on the band front at the moment, he's seen Foo Fighters, Iron Maiden and Kiss so far.
I was really wanting to take him to see Def Leppard and Scorpions, I've never seen a bad Scorpions gig, but it was a big trip to Auckland and I just couldn't make sense of buying tickets, everything seemed super expensive, part of a bundle or restricted view (and still expensive). So will just have to hold my breath and see if Scorpions can be persuaded to come down to CHCH once more (which I doubt).
I don't think Metal is dying, but I think it's getting harder to find that all in one Classic Rock/Metal all in one band in the spirit of the classic 80s bands a lot of us grew up with. The modern Metal etc. is really good but it's in it's own grooves these days and it doesn't resonate with me as well as the older stuff does. A lot of stuff seems to be less riff and melody driven and more rhythmic driven.

Ozzy with Brad Gillis was one of the first if not the first gig I ever went to. That or UFO.

Bot of those would have been stunning to get started withMolly wrote:Ozzy with Brad Gillis was one of the first if not the first gig I ever went to. That or UFO.
I saw Ozzy in a venue called Leeds Queens Hall, which despite it's posh name was a dump. It was an old coach/tram shed with horrible concrete/dirt floor, so big they parked the trucks inside at the back and the food/drink was provided by food trucks also inside the hall. I guess it was the biggest indoor arena in that part of the country back then. Also saw Kiss there on the first tour without make up.
Did you see UFO with Schenker? or was that just after he'd left to go solo?

Same could probably be said for Bryan Adams.null_pointer wrote:He does look like he struggles to get out of bed in the morning...never even gets as far as a hairbrushMolly wrote:I don't think he's got the energy.null_pointer wrote:
