The blues is coming to town

Post by WellyBlues »

Looking forward to seeing Phil and Dave Alvin in Welly at Bodega (April 1). They're also doing Auckland. Listening to stuff on Spotify, they do blues and Americana really well.

And Gary Clark Jr is also in Welly in March. Probably go to that as well.

These, and a few others, are coming from/going to Byron Bay Blues Fest. Lucky us, I was thinking I'd have to travel to Sydney, Melbourne to see some of the acts.

Here's some Youtube of the Alvin's and band at Hardly Strictly Bluegrass. They were definitely not bluegrass! A whole lot of Big Bill Broonzy and stuff

Got Dave Alvin's Eleven Eleven record. Absolutely mint. Of the two of them, he's the guy for me. Some serious gat skills, and a great singer too.

Been watching Gary Clark Jr in the Youtube. Some excellent stuff from his opening act for the Stones at Hyde Park. On his Youtube channel.

Can understand the Hendrix comparison, the music just has that feel. Wonderful.
